Busy...busy..busy...

Dia de los Muertos came and left so quickly I didn't get the chance to comment on the shows or share the pictures.  Both the show at Say Si and the Mercado were so much fun.  The weather was beautiful and the crowds were steady.  The Dia de los Muertos procession downtown was amazing!!  The large skeleton puppets danced through the cobble stone streets of the Market Square followed by dancers carrying marigold glowers.  Almost everyone had there face painted like a sugar skull or wore large hats adorned with feathers like la Catrina.  I did post pictures on Facebook but here are a few:

This year's Dia de los Muertos events were a lot of fun!  Can't wait till next year.


Changing the subject...

I am happy to say that one of my necklaces, "Leaves of Fall" has been featured in Bead Trends Magazine November 2011 issue!!  To celebrate I am having FREE SHIPPING on my website through the month of November.

Dia de los Muertos just around the corner..

With Dia de los Muertos just around the corner I have been in full speed create-mode!  I'm vending at two Dia de los Muertos shows this week.

The first show, DIA DE LOS MUERTOS CELEBRATION, is this weekend at the Market Square (downtown San Antonio).  The 2-Day show is going to be a blast!!  Live music (BOMBASTA, AZUL, MARIACHIS, etc), a dance procession, Day of the Dead fashion show, and local "artesanos" like me!  If you're in the San Antonio area stop by and say hi!

The second show I will be at is Say Si's 5th Annual "Muertito Fest" next week.  It's a fun-filled 3-Day event.  You can find more information on my website.  I will post more info here on Monday.

Barely catch my breath

That was one quick summer.  I haven't been around as much as I hoped.  So much happened so fast that I could barley catch my breath.  My aunt suddenly passed away this summer from a massive heart attack.  She left behind four children along with three sisters, one brother, a mother and a niece (me) who have spent most of the summer adjusting to her loss.  She was a huge supporter and fan of my artwork.  I would like to thank those of you who have reached out to my family and me via text, e-mail, and Facebook.  Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.

In spite of my obvious creative block, the other night I was in my studio re-arranging and I found some butterfly beads I had stashed away for a mixed media project (which I plan to get to...one day).  I saw these gorgeous tear-drops laying on the table across from my and the idea came to me...

These look absolutely dreamy, hence the name!  They are very lightweight and comfy.  You can find them on my website by clicking here.  That night I ended up making several pairs of earrings and two necklaces.  I posted most of them of my website and gave status updates on Facebook when the other where posted.  I still have a couple more items left to post....

It's getting hot in here...

Back in the studio...

After a jammed-packed month of shows in April I decided to take some time off and return to my studio at the beginning of June.  Yeah, right?!  Like I could ever be away from my studio that long.  It was a nice try, though.  I made it 4 weeks and now I'm back....in the full creative swing.

I have a moleskine packed with ideas and new jewelry designs.  "Bring the bling" is a new line of cuff bracelets I'm working on.  Bring in summer with my new colorful bling'd-out cuffs with Loteria and Frida Kahlo images.  And for my 'calavera' lovers....new paper-mache masks painted in bright colors decorated with flowers.

It's going to be a long hot summer and I plan on staying in my studio where it's nice and cool.  I will not be doing any shows this summer so you're more than welcome to stop by my studio.
