Skull Love

Hellooo October!  Crisp leaves...the start of chilly weather...and oh yeah....skulls everywhere!!  I've been on a calavera-role making all kinds of mosaic skulls,  paper-mache skulls, and new tote bags with dancing sugar skulls.  Day of the Dead is just weeks away and my studio is filled with all kinds of glittery goodness.

Rocking the Layers

Tomorrow is October!  Technically Fall arrived last week, but I associate Fall with October... Halloween...and the changing of the weather.  The best part of Fall..."layering!!"  I love layering clothes for a super casual-relaxed look, or just for pops of color.  One thing that is an absolute MUST when layering is jewelry.  Yes, it's true that 'less is more' but I think that rule strictly applies to make-up.  ..lol.  When it comes to jewelry...the more bangle bracelets, or long layered chains, the more variety of styles you can achieve.  Whether striving for a boho-look, city-girl look, or even a country-look...it's all about the layers.

My two favorite types of layers involve Pearls and Turquoise.  Both look stunning layered on the neck or arm and both can offer a dressy or casual look.

A helpful hint when layering necklaces, start your first layer with what feels comfortable.  If you've never worn a choker and don't like tight necklaces, start with a length you always wear and build from there.

I, myself, am more of the "Princess" and double "Matinee" person.  Remember when layering...comfort is key.

Finally the wait is over...I am so excited to announce the re-opening of the Scarlette Dove ETSY Shop!!!  I've spent the whole summer designing new jewelry collections, taking pictures, editing, uploading, writing descriptions, all in preparation for this moment.  I'm thrilled to announce with the re-opening of the ETSYshop, comes three new collections exclusive to ETSY.

My first collection called Cowgirl Junk is dedicated to all the strong brazen females who do things on her own terms...with a touch of sass and bold style.  In this collection you'll find jewelry rich in color with a hint of the old Southwest.

My second collection, "Santitos Collection" has dazzling charm bracelets and one-of-a-kind necklaces dedicated to various Santos.  Here you'll find exclusive pieces and reliquaries that are not found on my website.

My third collection, PaperDoll Courtyard is probably my favorite collection of the three!!  With an obsession for all things vintage and whimsy I've designed a new collection of jewelry that touches on the shabby-chic of an era when things were simple and charming.

Calling all Cowgirls....

Hey Y'all!!

Okay so my Texas slipped out...lol.  As I've mentioned, the re-opening of my ETSY store is coming super-soon.  I've been a busy birdie getting everything ready down to the last details.  I do, however; have a sneak peek!  A new collection of jewelry called "Cowgirl Junk."  This collection brings out the sassy cowgirl in all of us.  For the collection I've designed several pieces of jewelry with fabulous Turquoise, Coral, Jasper, leather, and just about any stone related to the color palette of the West.  Cowgirl Junk, along with upcoming collections, are exclusive only to my ETSY store.  With that being said, the pieces in all of the collections are one-of-a-kind and limited.

It's finally here....LAYAWAY

Hope everyone is enjoying summer!  In my last post I had mentioned adding some 'new features' to my website.  I'm introducing a LAYAWAY option!!!  For those early birdies who like to get a jump-start on Christmas shopping, and for those of us who love to shop but have to limit themselves (myself included..) to monthly budget I welcome you to take advantage of the layaway option.

I have big plans for this summer including the new re-openning of my ETSY store.  It has been a while since I've added any items to my ETSY shop.  I hope to have everything ready to 'launch' by next weekend.

I'm vending tomorrow evening at Culinaria's Food Truck event!!  Enjoy a family evening under the stars experiencing gourmet cuisine, entertainment, and local artisan shopping.

Hello Blog-Land!

It seems like an eternity since we last spoke.  I apologize for my absence.  These past few months have been filed with sketching new designs, participating in art shows, and working on commissions.  I'm excited to announce Scarlette Dove, the brand, is venturing into a new chapter of design.  While still working in Mexican Folk Art, I've decided to explore other genres of art and add my own perspective.  As an artist, one should always experiment with new mediums to evolve to become a better artist and open up the creativity.

There are so many new things I would like to share with you, but in due time!  I'm changing things up a bit and adding more services to my website.  I've also added a new banner to my blog--thanks to a very talented graphic artist I've been working...she's truly an amazing artist!!  (She does custom graphic work so if you're ever in need of sprucing up your blog, banner, or just want a "new look" email me and I will send her your info)

One thing I'm super excited to share with you is that one of my necklaces-- "Love is Blue" (Necklace: N808) was published in Bead Trends Magazine May2013 issue.

This is one of my favorite necklaces!  It's so versatile and can be worn casual with jeans, or dressy for a night on the town.
